Academic Dermatology

Today I had my appointment at Academic Dermatology for my laser hair removal consultation. It was scheduled for 2:15 so I got there at 2 because I knew I would have to fill out some paperwork. I wasn't brought back to a room until 2:47... yeah, 32 minutes after my appointment. The nurse was with me asking about medications and medical history until 2:53 and Dr. Tope arrived to the room at 3:15pm. The consultation was quite short. He does the lasering himself using a Nd:Yag Laser. He examined the area that I would like lasered and informed me that the feeling of the laser is much different than waxing- more stingy, multiple times. They offer topical anesthetic at no additional charge~ you just have to make a nurse appointment 30 minutes before the laser treatment appointment. They use a combination they call BLT which is Benzocaine, Lidocaine, and Tetracaine. The laser treatment for a modified brazilian would schedule for 45 minutes for the first treatment and likely be shorter for subsequent visits. He said that it usually takes over 5 treatments and each treatment is $300.

I am not 100% convinced that this is the place for me. The long wait put me off a little bit but the choice of getting an anesthetic would be nice.

Yowza!

Whoa, what a week... sorry I wasn't here!!
This week's beautiful thing: The semester is FINISHED! I am awaiting my grades patiently....

Thursday I had a great massage by Lennon at Extrados. My boss has given me the "assignment" of getting a massage every week for a month. Nice assignment, huh? I had never had a professional massage until a little over a month ago and oh boy, was I missing out! Lennon is fabulous~ he is kind and professional, always making sure my body is covered and draped appropriately, and takes cues from me as to if we are talking during the treatment or not.
Extrados is offering a special this month $50 for an hour massage. Call 612-920-0051 to schedule.

Beautifully delicious!

I missed yesterdays blog because I was in St. Cloud and my silly phone wouldn't let me write in my blog... boo!

We went to Granite City in St. Cloud for dinner and while the wait was long, my dinner was so worth the wait. While we were waiting, I was looking at the take-out menu and came across the "Honey Rosemary Tenderloin and Focaccia Salad." Priced at $16.99 it would definetly be the most expensive salad I have ever consumed. We are seated and begin looking at the menu and wait... it's not on the menu! Well, it was on everyone else's menu except for mine! Seems like I got an old menu~ good thing I checked with someone else at the table or I would have missed out on this experience and Granite City would have just missed a $17 salad sale!

The salad features a half-pound of fresh beef tenderloin that has been marinated in honey, olive oil, soy sauce, chopped garlic & fresh rosemary~ it was cut up into bite size pieces and served on greens with tomato, bleu cheese crumbles and parmesean cheese. It was dressed with a balsamic vinegarette and came with focaccia croutons (which I requested on the side).

Let me start by saying that this was the most tender steak that I have ever experienced! Everyone at my end of the table tried it and was in awe of how delicious it was. The dressing was paired with it very well and the focaccia croutons were SOFT!!! The focaccia was cut up into crouton shaped pieces and just barely toasted. I have to say this was much better than getting a steak served with a side salad.

I will absolutely get this salad again and whole heartedly recommend that you try it too! Mmm... it was incredible!

Laser consultation calls~

I called Academic Dermatology today and the first available consultation appointment is on May 20th. This is because Dr. Whitney Tope does the laser hair removal himself. The receptionist was very kind. She asked me if I needed the address/suite number or directions to the clinic.

I got an answering machine when I called Kass Clinic so I left a message. I assume they will call me back Monday.

The last place I am going to consult with I was referred to by one of my co-workers. The place is Revessence~ which recently moved into the Eden Prairie Lifetime. I called them as well, however they are only open until noon on Fridays.

Welcome!

I love beauty and see beauty in many things. I am a Licensed Esthetician and tattoo & piercing aficionada. I don't mind a little pain with my self improvement... Here are a few little snippits of what led me here and what my short term goals are in regards to this blog.

When my sister and I were little, we would pretend that we had our own beauty salon. She was going to do nails, and I was going to do hair... 20 years later, she has been doing hair for 10 years and I have been in skin care for 2 years. I love what I do and I appreciate that I get to see so many unique, beautiful people.

So, rewind 16 years... I was in junior high shool when a friend and I started experimenting with home tattoos. We wrapped a needle with thread, dipped it in ink and poke, poke, poked away til we had completed our design. I had two of these home creation tattoos~ both were covered up just a few short years later. I now have a total of 13 tattoos and 12 piercings, 5 of which I have retired. I have plans to turn a few pieces that I currently have into a 3/4 sleeve on my left arm & I am soooo excited about it!

A couple years ago I was blessed to have met an incredibly talented girl who was into all sorts of magical play toys. She was into contact juggling, hula hooping and playing with fire. This inspired me to spin a hoop and I fell in love with the feeling of the hula hoop in contact with my body. I made quite a few beautiful hula hooops and my little boy helped too!

Hmm... those are the only stories that stand out right now~ stay tuned for more another time :)

I decided to start this blog to share things that I love and experiences I will go through~

I have been interested in laser hair removal for a little while. I have been getting waxed for 2 years and waxing myself off and on during that time as well. I want to check out a few different laser places in the Twin Cities and let other people know about my experiences. I have a couple places in mind and will be setting up my consultations. I plan to write about each experience separately, as they occur.

I am in love with a few skin care items and have a passion for a certain clothing line~ I will write about these things as well.

I look forward to this journey and hope it helps others!
